Tolstoy was a Russian writer born of Russian
Nobility. His parents died when he was
young and relatives raised him and his siblings. He dropped out of university because his teachers stated that he
was not willing or able to learn. After
running up tremendous amounts of debts through gambling he joined the
army. It was at this time he began
writing. He also witnessed a public
execution that traumatized him. At this
time his religious and political views began to change. He wrote two of the
greatest novels of all time, “War and Peace and “Anna Karenina”.
