Michelangelo was an Italian High Renaissance sculptor and painter born in Republic of Florence Italy. He was also known to be an architect and poet. As a child, Michelangelo was not very interested in school studies but was drawn to the arts at a very early age. Some of his greatest works remain to this day on the alter wall of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy. Michelangelo was recognized as a great artist during his lifetime and is considered by many to be the greatest artist of all time and having the most influence on western art to this day.
